In 1976 I claimed C'mon C'mon (73) for $3,000 and
immediately retired her to become my only broodmare.
C'mon C'mon was by
Distinctive out of Peel
Parlor by Half Crown. She was a winner at 2 & 3 of
$11,839. Peel
Parlor
produced 10 foals, but no blacktype performers. I
claimed C'mon C'mon
because
her 2nd dam was a producer of solid winners and her
3rd dam produced
the
good runner and sire, Thinking Cap. I believed
that within 3
generations, through careful screening I could upgrade
the family back
up to the level of Thinking Cap. The problem was
that I was
seduced on most occasions to breed locally rather than
to the right
sire. C'mom C'mon produced 5 foals, 2 to upgrade (KY,
1 of which died)
and 3 of convenience). I kept the surviving
upgrade, A Screen
Classic (85) by Screen King and sold C'mon C'mon. |
A Screen Classic was a
nice filly
that was immediately retired to be my
only broodmare as soon as she won a race (age 3, 10
starts, $3,187).
She
produced 6 foals before dieing, 5 of convenience, 1
upgrade. I
sent
the mare to KY to be bred a stallion who was the
result of a Matchmaker
recommended mare and share purchase, Lac Ouimet. Cache
In was the
result
of that mating. |
